What Causes Persistent Febris Despite Taking Medications?

Hi, I am a male 46 yo. 2 last weeks, I felt sub- febris, and I checked to lab, all widal test were negative.

I took levaquin 500mg for 5 days, as I felt still sub-febris, and again I went to check my widal test, result

S. typhi 1/160, and I was hospitalized for 3 days, and doctor gave Cefoperazone-sulbactam 2X1 gr/day.

and I went home, bu still todate, I am still feeling some sub-febris. what's up with my body ?

Thank you for posting your query.

S. Typhi 1/160 and a long duration of illness requires combination therapy.

If you are sure that they gave you obly cef sulbactum, then we suggest you to get another titre estimation done and again consult your doctor.

Also in such circumstances we will also like to do a malaria antigen test to confirm that you are not suffering with double infection and levaquin dose was not how you took it for malaria.

Get another widal, malaria antigen and cbc done. In the meantime start with Azithromycin 1gm OD x 5 days, Tab Amikacin 200mg BD x 5 days, Tab Ciprofloxacin 500mg BD x 5 days, consult your doctor or post us here once you have result
