What Causes Persistent Feeling Of Being Hot With Out Fever?
I have been suffering for almost four years with a constant feeling of being hot. My temperature is normal. I am almost 70 and have been post-menopausal for many many years. Have Hasimoto s and have had a partial thyroidectomy. Have been told that I am still suffering from hot flashes. I am constantly hot. No flashes. Is there a reason for this? and can it be alleviated? Sleep in winter with windows open and a ceiling fan.
Hello and welcome to HCM, A history of Hashimotos thyroiditis is the probable cause of feeling hot. Hashimotos thyroiditis causes hyperthyroidism initially. Hyperthyroidism is characterised by feeling hot, excessive appetite, loosing weight despite increased appetite, loss of weight, anxiety etc. Thus, there could be thyroid hormone imbalance which is responsible for feeling quite hot. Thus, I suggest you to consult your physician for clinical assessment, thyroid hormone profile and thus management. Menopause is characterised by hot flushes but not with feeling excessively hot.
