Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve had a surgery 3weeks ago. A week ago, I started having a fever that won t go away. Blood tests don t show anything wrong. I am on antibiotics and the surgery site doesn t show any redness. There is fluid accumulating under the skin but nothing else. I don t understand the fever, the dr says it s virus but for 8 days??????
It is common for post-operative patients to catch viral infection. It is clinically manifested with fever non more than 38 degrees. It might last as long as 10 days or a couple of weeks as immunity is weakened by surgery.
You should consider yourself lucky not to have complications with surgery site. Increase fluids intake. Vitamin supplementation can help. Keep regular follow up with your surgeon to check the operation site for possible complications/infection.
Wish fast recovery.
