What Causes Persistent Fever And Headaches Despite Taking Antibiotics And Prednisone?

2 weeks ago My daughter who is 14, started with a sore throat, that turned into cold type symptoms. Symptoms include fever, dizziness, lethargy and feleling nauseated at times. She has had a persistent cough and has had prednisone. She was given an antibiotic also. 2 weeks later the cough is still there although a lot milder and less frequent but she is still experiencing the fever and headaches, particularly at night. In this periods she has had a cholera and typhoid vaccine also. Yes bad timing I know! She is just generally quite unwell.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your daughter have persistent fever in an infant despite taking antibiotics and Prednisone which is due to viral infection which is lowering down your immunity and making you prone for infection. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to apply wet cold sheets on your head to lower down body temperature. Avoid hot, spicy and sharp food substances. Take hot milk rich in turmeric as it will booster immunity. Take nimuslide along with paracetamol as well.Take diet rich in multivitamins and vitamin C. You should take combination of antiviral drug along with anti-inflammatory drug. Your symptoms will resolve in 4-5 days. If symptoms keeps on persisting visit ENT specialist once and get some routine blood investigation done. Take diet rich in multivitamins. Drink plenty of water.
