What Causes Persistent Fever Despite Taking Medication?

My daughter is 6, has been running a low grade fever for 3 days and had a cough that sounded like a dog barking but the cough has since got better. She is still coughing but not like before. The fever is still going on and off. I am giving her Mucinex which has helped. Should I continue what I m doing.

Hello,

Thanks for writing to Health Care magic, I am Dr , Muhammad Ahmad , I have read your question closely, I understand your concern and will be helping you with your health related problem.

This sounds like a viral infection of the respiratory tract it tends to get better itself in 5-7 days I would suggest your to continue the same and you can use syrup panadol in case of fever otherwise you don't need much medication for her , keep her on good quantity of fluids and she should rest well, nothing much needed other than this.
Viral illnesses tend to get better themselves don't need anything extra, but if this starts getting worse or doesn't get better after 7 days then get a checkup with your doctor.

I hope this answered your question, If you have more queries I am happy to answer you.
Regards.

Dr.Muhammad Ahmad
