Hello, My son is 9 years old (who often gets ear infections but doesn t always have ear pain even though his ears gets red and fluid-filled) came down with a bit a cough and headache yesterday morning. We kept him home from school and a good thing we did because he started with fevers peaking anywhere between 38 and 38.9. We gave him Children s Advil every 7-8 hours and then switched to Children s Tylenol every four hours today which seem to work better. Cough wasn t so bad and didn t complain of headache much but super lethargic, can t even keep eyes open to watch TV and says the screen makes him dizzy (that s a first!) Then at 6 pm, his fever spiked to 39.9. Warm bath, not hot and gradually making it cooler and new dose of Tylenol with lots of flat ginger ale. Then he started complaining a severe dizziness (said he felt like he was standing up even though he was lying down) and then threw up all his ginger ale about an hour after he d taken the tylenol. Fever has in the last hour come down from 39.9 to 39.3. Now he s a bit passed out, eyes closed but responsive if I ask him questions. Should I give him more meds? Take him to emerg? We live in a small town in France half an hour from a hospital but 5 minutes from a Maison Medical which is really a trailer office (new) converted into a doctor s office next to the Fire Station with single doctor on hand. What should I do? Chloe in France (my dad is a retired GP in Florida but I can t reach him)
