What Causes Persistent Gagging In A Person?

Hello, I have been having gagging for a little over a week now. It happens every morning to the point I about vomit. It will come on suddenly throughout the day, especially when i am reading out loud to a class. I have to constantly chew gum or take a drink. it is getting very bothersome. Help!!!!

You are welcome on healthcare magic.there can be several causes of gagging. To find a cause it is difficult at this point without proper history.

Still, in your case, I feel it can be due to:

-Brushing with toothpaste which tastes bitter.
-The habit of waking late at night.
-Smoking.
-Heavy exercise as you say reading loud which leads to contraction of the diaphragm and stimulates gagging.

There can be other causes such as stomach problem and infections but least likely in your case. Still, if you can send back your health history, habits it will be easier to identify a particular cause.
