What Causes Persistent Gum Pain After Removal Of Tooth?
Hi, I got one of my tooth removed about a week and half and even since then, I have been having constant pain. I was told that the tooth could have been infected and I have been taking antibiotics but know relieve. what could have been the reason for the persistent pain?
It seems that even if after one and a half weeks of extraction there is continuous pain, then there is a possibility that there is either infection in the area of extraction or can be due to any left over root piece.. Another cause can be formation of Dry Socket that is non healing Socket secondary to loss of blood clot.. As the pain must have subsided with in a week and in case if it is still persisting there is some abnormality.. Consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a clinical examination and x ray can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.. As of now take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen, do warm saline gargles and do cool compresses over the cheek..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
