Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Persistent Headache After Taking A Rabies Vaccine?
Few days ago a dog scratched me near my neck.On day 1 itself I took anti rabies vaccine After taking the 2 nd dose I had some mild headache which remained for 2 days and also after taking the third dose I suffered with the same. Please let me know if I should continue taking the vaccine or just stop it in between
Rabies vaccine can cause mild to moderate headaches as a side-effect. Do not stop the course unless you have any allergic reaction to the vaccine. Allergic reactions are to be treated immediately
Omitting the vaccine course causes more risk than the risk of adverse effects after taking the vaccine. Hence I suggest you to complete the vaccination schedule.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
