What Causes Persistent Heartburn Despite Taking Medication?
Two days ago I began having extreme heartburn. I take OTC Nexium once a day for GERD however this heartburn didn t get relief and I took three Nexium before getting any relief. I then began having severe sharp pains in upper abdomen and an overall feeling of illness. Some body ache, no energy, periodic pain in abdomen. Today is better, still some random sharp pain (not like gas, more like knives in gut). My bigger concern is that I can t eat or drink without feeling like the food isn t going down, like everything is tight and narrow or partially blocked. I ve had some of these systems before but never an issue with food or water going down. Could this just be bad indigestion?
Hi. Welcome Apart from drugs certain non medicinal measures need to be followed.
Add bland foods to your diet, such as bananas, toast, oatmeal and rice in small amounts every couple of hours. Avoid spicy food. You can take curd which will be beneficial. Avoid alcohol and smoking, avoid sleeping immediately after food, walk for 10 to 15 minutes. Hope this helps Take care
