HI, MY NAME IS GINA MEDEROS. THE PROBLEM I AM HAVEING IS NOT BEING ABLE TO SLEEP. I TAKE AMBIEN, HOWEVER, THAT STOPS HELPING ME AFTER ABOUT TWO MONTHS. MY DR. HAS ALSO HAD ME TAKE LUNESTA, WHICH HAS NO EFFECT ON ME WHATSOEVER. JUST FYI..I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK ONE DAY AND WAS BEHIND A SCHOOL BTWO US WHO HAD STOPPED TO PICK UP CHILDREAN. THE STRUCK VEHICLES BEHND ME WERE TO BUSY TO STOP AND I WAS THAT STRUCK FROM BEHND NOT ONCE BUT TWICE!! I HAVE SUFFERED A BRAIN INJURY ALONG A SEVAR BACK PAIN, THAT IS THERE 24/7. I ALSO TEND TO FORGET THINGS REGURALY. I ALSO HAVE NERROPATHY IN BOTH MY HANDS AND FEET/LEGGS. AND TO TOP THAT OFF I AM UNABLE TO SLEEP. AMBIEN AND LUNESTA DO HELP. WHAT WOULD THE NEXT STEP BE? IS THERE ANOTHER OPTION OUT THERE FOR ME? ANY INSIGHT YOU CAN PROVIDE FOR ME WOULD BE TREMENDOUS,

thank you for contacting HCM. have you seen any doctor after your accident ? if so they might be treating for your back pain and memory issues.

Above reason could be the cause for your insomnia. I would stress you to sort those.

if you have trouble falling asleep, you can try over the counter melatonin. take 5 or 6 MG tablets. you can take upto 9mg.

please follow sleep hygiene techniques.
-- use bed only to sleep, don't use it for some office work.
-- don't watch TV lying on the bed and planning to fall asleep.
-- do not take any stimulants like caffeine (pop, coffee) prior to the sleep.
-- take shower prior to going to bed.
-- do regular physical activity during evening time.
