What Causes Persistent Joints Pain While Having Pulmonary Embolism?

Hi,My mother has constant joint and muscle pain and her finger tips also hurt. She is in her early 80s. Nothing seems to help with the pain. What can relieve her pain? She has been taking Coumadin for several years now after having a pulmonary embolism. She gone to different doctors, but no one has figured out what is causing her pain.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

She may want to consider seeing a rheumatologist. This is a doctor that specializes in the conditions affecting the joints and muscles.

There are specific examination techniques, blood tests and imagine that would be done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
