What Causes Persistent Left-sided Chest Discomfort Despite Taking Bentyl?

For 7 days I have a constant throbbing in my left chest area. My pulse rate and blood pressure have remained normal. I do have slight pain and discomfort associated. My dr said it was likely esophageal spasm and prescribed bentyl. This has not helped in slightest. He has already ruled out panic and stress. This is happening 24 hrs a day and is keeping me up all night. Any idea what is going on?
