What Causes Persistent Left Sided Chest Pain?

I woke up this morning with a pain on the left side of my chest. It is constant which leads me to think it is a muscle pull. It was difficult for me to take a deep breath but I took 2 Aleve which took the edge off. The pain still remained but to a lesser degree. I am a 56 yr old female, no history of heart disease in the family, no diabetes. Is there a way to confirm this without being an alarmist and rushing off to the ER. There are none of the other symptoms which I have tried to read up on.

Hello,

Though you have no such family history yet you are instructed to get few tests and investigations done as you are having persistent chest pain on the left side. Get clinically examined by a Cardiologist & get routine cardiac tests done, like EKG, Echo, X-ray, stress test, lipid function tests, blood sugar(F/PP), etc. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected. Till then, if obese, try to maintain healthy weight. Do regular walking.

Take a balanced, home made, nutritious diet. Take freshly prepared food, well cooked whole cereals, lean meat, omega 3 rich fish, nuts, dry fruits, berries, fruits, veggies. Avoid spicy, oily junk food, refined flour, full fat dairy products, red meat, alcohol, drugs, smoking, etc. You can get connected to a Physical therapist to get rid of pain due to sprain or strain, pinched nerve, pulled muscle or costochondritis. Exercises and massage therapy under a Physical therapy is effective and helpful.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
