What Causes Persistent Leg Pain And Slurred Speech?

My sister is 64 years old. She has always been active and busy. She has been complaining of leg pains. Says she can t do much, like walk or take stairs. Says her legs feel like they are in cement. She has been having a hard time focusing and communicating. Her speech is slurred. She had been through mri s that have ruled out dementia and stroke. The Dr told her she may have ALS. Quite the terrifying diagnosis.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

This is an unfortunate possibility that would need assessment.

It is diagnosed using nerve conduction tests or EMG tests (electromyography).

A neurologist would be needed for diagnosis for the tests to be done.

I hope this helps
