Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had extensive diarrhrea for about 4 and 1/2 days now. I have no appetite, and have lost about 5 lbs. off my 175 lb. frame. At first if was almost all watery, it remained so for the 4 days. My most recent bowel movement seemed to harden up just a bit but was an alarming tannish color. I have never seen this before. Should I seek immediate medical help or allow this to possibly run its course.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of persistent loose motions which is due to poor digestion, poor absorption or rapid movement through the intestines and all this leads to watery diarrhea. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take zinc supplements along with oral rehydrating solution. You can take Nitazoxanide twice daily to prevent diarrhea. You should maintain the hydration of the body by taking plenty of oral fluids. Your symptoms will resolve in 3-4 days. If your symptoms keeps on persisting visit gastroenterologist once and get it examined and start treatment accordingly. You should take antibiotic such as oflox-oz along with rekool-d empty stomach one hour before meal.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
