What Causes Persistent Low Grade Fever Along With Headaches?

I have been running a low grade fever now for almost 2 days. It s about 100 in the morning, then drops down to just above 99 in the afternoon and then spikes again in the early evenng. I have no symptoms like burning when I urinate, cough, no body aches except for a few muscles and once the fever drops I feel fine during the day I can tell when it goes up because I get a very slight headache whenever I run a low grade fever. What could be causing this and how long should I wait until I go to the doctor?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to a viral infection. I suggest to take Tylenol for the fever. I recommend to drink liquids and rest. If the symptoms continue for more than a week, I suggest to do a blood test and a urinalysis for further evaluation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
