What Causes Persistent Lower Back Pain?

Hi Dr Rynne, I am 47 years old. I am quite active but for quite some time now, I have had a constant pain on the right side of my low back that continues to my right hip and down my right leg to my ankle. The pain becomes so intense at times, especially when I am sleeping. It wakes me up. My PCP stated it may be bursitis in the hip and said to take Aleve. I have not had an Xray or MRI and am looking for a second opinion before I decide what to do next. I hope you can recommend something. Thank you!!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If it possibly gets MRI of the lumbar spine. And get tested for total leukocyte count (TLC), differential leukocytes counts (DLC), and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR). I think you are suffering from sciatica. Start sleeping on a hard bed. Assume right posture for sitting and standing. Take tablet aceclofenac two times a day. And any neuritic as pregabalin. As these are prescription drugs, please contact your local doctor he will prescribe these.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Varinder Joshi
