Hello,
Pain in the lower left abdomen that has lasted over 10 years, worsens with constipation or late eating, and fluctuates in intensity, strongly suggests a chronic gastrointestinal issue. Pain in lower left abdomen is typical for IBS, especially the
sigmoid colon. No structural damage is usually seen on scans as this is a
functional disorder.
Left sided pain can also occur due to inflammation or irritation in the diverticula.
Diverticulosis does not show up on basic ultrasound. You are advised to get done a CT scan or
colonoscopy as it is better at detecting it. Colonic spasms such as sharp left-sided
stabbing pain can occur due to trapped gas, constipation, and gut sensitivity. Be well hydrated always. Be active and avoid a sedentary lifestyle.
Do regular walking and exercises in the morning and evening. Take food high in fiber, prefer taking boiled food over oily junk food. packaged food or processed food. Take fresh homemade balanced diet in medium portions in time. Avoid taking red meat and food that causes constipation. Take fruits, veggies and berries. Get done a stool test (R/E and C/S) for occult blood, parasites
Delayed meals or overeating when very hungry can overstimulate the bowel and cause spasm. Do fasting once a week so that your system gets rest, drink water and juice while you fast. Constipation and erratic eating are key triggers to your symptoms. Your long-standing lower left
abdominal pain is most likely related to
chronic constipation, IBS, or diverticulosis. You need to control your diet, get connected with a nutritionist and a local GP.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
