Hello and welcome to HCM, excessive accumulation in throat is due to excessive mucus production in nasal cavities or sinuses. Chronic sinusitis is a condition wherein the sinuses are chronically infected and inflamed. There is production of excessive quantities of mucus and post-nasal drip. Post-nasal drip refers to draining of mucus from posterior part of nasal cavities and accumulation in the throat. I suggest you to consult an ENT specialist for clinical assessment and X-ray of the para-nasal sinuses. If there is haziness and cloudiness in the para-nasal sinuses, treatment of chronic sinusitis is required.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
