What Causes Persistent Nausea Post Alcohol Intake?

My son is 18 and had his first drinking Bing about a month ago. He drank about 5 beers then about 5 oz of whiskey. He through up once. Since that night he has been waking up nauseous and hasn t been able to eat like normal. He usually eats constantly and not healthy food. He is athletic and healthy normally. He has thrown up once early afternoon and felt better after. We are on vacation and he just told me what happened because he doesn t feel well enough to get out of bed. Could this be related to the alchohol Bing?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Vomiting episodes after a month of binge drinking are less likely to be related to the drinking event. Especially if he is not jaundiced or have other symptoms.
If he is not drinking alcohol recently but is vomiting for less than 5 days then very likely he is having a viral infection. He needs to keep hydrated with oral rehydration solutions that he can access over the counter in pharmacy and try to rest. He may have food and water in frequent small amounts to help with nausea and avoid fatty, spicy or fast food.
If he is not better in a total of 5 days or he is any worse he will need to see his doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
