What Causes Persistent Pain After Tooth Extraction Despite Taking Medication?

I got my wisdom teeth taken out yesterday and the pain was really severe. I had taken two hydrocodones and then when the pain came back I took two Tylenol with codeine and then later the pain came back again and I took 2 ibuprofen this was the span of about 5 hours. I barfed an hour later, and then a couple hours later again I barfed, and then a few hours later I barfed again. Today I woke up thinking I'd be better but I just barfed again and I'm not sure what to do. Please and thank you.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain and explanation of symptoms pain after wisdom tooth extraction is a common finding and although it is a disturbing factor but you need not to worry about it, as the healing will proceed the pain will gradually reduce..
You are vomiting because you are overloading your body with lots of painkillers as well as I suppose you would also be taking antibiotics as prescribed by your dentist..

You should limit the intake of medicines and take Hydrocodone 1O mg two times a day and if required Ketorol DT can be take two times a day by dissolving one tablet in half a glass of water, along with the antibiotics prescribed to you..
For vomiting you can take Zofran [Ondensetron] tablet as it helps in relieving Nausea and vomiting..
Take Pantoprazole 4O mg empty stomach in the morning..
If still you have any uncontrolled vomiting or there are any additional side effects then you should consult your treating dentist..

Hope this information helps..
