What Causes Persistent Pain And Restricted Movement In The Arm?

Hi, I injured my upper arm about six weeks ago lifting a 5 lb weight over my head. I saw my doctor 3 weeks ago and she determined that I have a strained biceps tendon. It is very painful and I cannot lift my arm over my head, probably to about 60-65 degrees. The pain and limited movement have not improved despite using a tennis elbow brace/strap on my upper arm and doing mild stretching exercises (backward stretching with my arms down feels good). My doctor said it would take 12 weeks to heal. I am concerned because I am not feeling any improvement and wearing the brace seems to make the pain worse. I feel like I need to do some exercises but am not sure what to do.

Hello,
i can understand your concern. Sprains usually take time to heal. You doctor is right in suggesting that it would take 12 weeks time to heal.
if you are really worried, get an MRI scan done. it will show us the degree of injury. Meanwhile continue using the brace and avoid lifting weights. Apply local heat for relief.
Hope i have answered your query. Have a nice day
