What Causes Persistent Pain Behind The Head And Ear?
i have servere pain at the back of my head and behind right ear for 6months makes me sick and it gets so bad n given a diagnos end up crying with it doctor prescribed gabapentin but afraid of side efects dont know what the problem is any idea please can you help

Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like otitis media , lymph node swelling , temporomandibular joint disorder or mastoiditis . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order test like CT scan , blood test and physical examination for tenderness and consistency . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics along with anti inflammatory . Doctor may also refer you to dentist for TMJ problem . Doctor my give night guard , because this problem sometimes occur due to bruxism . For nw apply warm compresses and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain.
