Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I have a significant pain in my right foot, just below my ankle. I have had this for a few days, and it is quite painful, waking me in the middle of the night if I turn over. I had a DVT a couple of years ago (attributed to tamoxifen, which I no longer take). Would it be possible that this pain is related to a clot? Thanks.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have persistent pain below the ankle. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like arthritis , gout , nerve damage , blocked blood vessels or infection in the joint. I would suggest you to apply ice pack to ankle , take proper rest , tie bandage around foot and ankle and keep your leg elevated while sleeping . Consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination. Doctor my order CT scan, MRI along with physical examination to rule out any injury . Doctor may prescribe allopurinol , methotrexate along with anti inflammatory or antibiotics . Doctor may also refer you to cardiologist in case of blood vessel blockage .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
