What Causes Persistent Pain Below The Buttocks On Walking For Short Distance?

For many years I have had pain in my lower left buttocks and down a little way down the thigh. The pain worsens a great deal after only 3 to 4 minutes of walking or standings. Most days I can t go through the entire grocery store unless I can sit in a motorized scooter chair. Exercising in a warm water saline pool helps, but pain meds do not. Sometimes Aleve helps for a few hours, but the pain persists. Xrays have shown that there is arthritis in that hip joint, but this pain is definitely in the lower buttocks. What should or could I be doing to help myself?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
It seems that your problem might be due to artheritis of hip joint producing pinched nerve pressure and stiff muscles and hip joint.
Go for physiotherapy like back extension exercises and pelvic floor muscle exercises daily.
Take Calcium, vitamin A and D supplements.
Ok and take care.
