What Causes Persistent Pain Below The Knee Cap?

I slipped months ago in bathtub and had really jammed my leg into bathtub and had bruise for a long time, bruise is gone however that spot still hurts as if I had just banged it. It has been about 6 months now, should I be worried I did something to it? It is my left leg under my knee cap to the left of the middle bone that runs down leg about 4 fingers to a hand under knee cap so it isn t the knee.

Hello,

The likely cause of a prolonged pain is either a torn ligament or tendon or some blood collection inside the joint cavity. An x-ray or MRI can better reveal the cause. Kindly visit an orthopedist.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
