Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Good evening Dr, I have been experiencing pain below my right rib for 6 years, with scans done revealing nothing. Though the pain looks like a surface pain, but off-late its been striking me deeply. I have been noticing stone particles in my stool too
Pain below the ribcage can be of a muscle or nerve or due to internal organ issue. What type of scans were done previously? As you said 6 years ago you did scans and it revealed nothing. I would suggest you to get an ultrasound abdomen done again, as on right side there are organs like liver, gall bladder and inflammation to these leads to pain abdomen in that area.
Once you get the results of your USG abdomen, visit your doctor. If it still doesn’t reveal anything he might ask you to get some other diagnostic tests done which also include blood work. Once all the results come, your doctor will be able to advice you appropriate management options depending on the underlying cause.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
