I have had lower back pain for 29 years, shortly after the birth of my second child. I thought I injured it walking on uneven terrain. I took ibuprofen for the pain for decades but after gastric bypass could no longer take that med. my back is hurting more and more with hip pain and leg weakness. What do you think it is?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
You have persistant pain in back , hip and weakness in leg for 29 years. Most probably you had disc prolapse which is causing prssure on nerves arising out of intervertebral spaces. You get your xray done , Pa and lat views. If cause not clear go for ct scan. Some other investigations will help. Investigations are hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar, urine routine.
