What Causes Persistent Pain In Ears?

Hi, my ears have been hurting for as long as I can remember. I ve tried hydrogen peroxide but even a few drops feels like someone hit me in the head with a bat. When I go swimming I can t go under water no more than a couple inches before my ears start to hurt and the pressure of the water feels like its squeezing my head. Also when I put headphones in my ears it hurts when it s completely covered the ear canal it pops and gives me a migraine. I ve been to ear doctor s but they said nothing is wrong. Can you please help me. What can I do to clean out my ears or see if that s even the problem?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of persistent pain in the ears.
Since you are getting the pain even on exposure to hydrogen peroxide, swimming, ear phones the cause is obvious.
This is enhanced sensory system response, it is possible that there is a granuloma in the ear canal.
Another reason is possibly you might have suffered from Herpes zoster in past and this is now post-herpetic neuralgia.

I would advise you the following:
MRI of the brain and ears to rule out any tumor.
Clinical evaluation by an ENT and Neurologist .
Trying the medicines like Amitryptiline, tegrotol or gabapentin underr the guidance and increasing dosages of the Doctor can help you the most.
All these are prescription medicines hence you have to have a prescription.
You can also try alternative methods like acupressure, meditation etc.
