General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your history your mother in law suffering from filariasis. The most common side effects are nausea, fever, headache, or pain in muscles or joints. Diethylcarbamazine (DEC) is the drug of choice for treatment filariasis. For pain and fever need non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and paracetamol medication. For vomiting need anti-vomiting medication like ondensetron.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Arup Majumdar, General & Family Physician
