Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
There is a pain in my left wrist that makes it hurt to do almost anything. It hurts to stretch my thumb outwards, it hurts to bend my wrist all ways, front to back and side to side. I had gone to an Urgent Care in my area and they took X-rays but said that there was nothing that they could see. They put me in a split for a week. My wrist felt great while splinted, but I am an active person and I lift weights and play sports so the pain comes right back no matter what I do. I m just wondering if there is something that they could have missed.
Suggestive of carpal tunnel syndrome. After having gone through the history I am of the opinion that you seem to be suffering from 'carpal tunnel syndrome'. It is a common condition due to compression of the median nerve as it travels through the wrist causing pain, numbness, and tingling sensation in the affected hand and arm. I advise you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for proper clinical examination and certain tests such as nerve conduction studies and electromyogram to confirm the diagnosis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
