What Causes Persistent Pain In The Calf?

I have a pain in the calf of my right leg. It is very sore after sitting and when trying to stand in upright position. I walk about 45 min everyday-my leg may be sore in the beginning but loosens up as I walk. Very uncomfortable walking down stairs. Started two weeks ago and hasn t gotten better.
