What Causes Persistent Pain In The Hip?

I still have severe pain 3 weeks after my doctor diagnosed a pulled muscle. This is in my hip and happened suddenly as I was picking up my 3 month old granddaughter. admittedly I had worked rather hard the weekend prior but felt no discomfort until I picked her up. It became unbearable radiating to my ankle. Ibuprofen and Tylenol barely touched it and I couldn t sleep. Now it is a thousand percent better but different movements still cause excruciating pain in my hip and surrounding area. Is this unusual? I can t stand straight and walk. Could it be arthritis?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

The pain may be due to hip arthritis or synovitis or back muscles spasm or disc bulge may lead to compression, which may radiate to the joint.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Use muscle relaxant or painkiller medication.

If symptoms not improved please consult your orthopedician, he will examine and take an X-ray or MRI of hip joint then treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
