What Causes Persistent Pain In The Ribcage?

my husband is 33 year old and since last 6 months he is having a sharp pain at the right side of the ribcage and it is a continious pain and he always holds tht portion with his hands and he even has digestion problem. if he eats oily food then loose motions or bloated feeling in the stomach which is quiet frequent. but my major concern is his pain on the right side kindly help
