What Causes Persistent Pain, Swelling And Redness In Foot?
3 days ago I was sitting at my desk and felt pain on the top of my foot. I stretched a lit t le and went back to my business not getting up for a couple of hours. Pain got worse and noticed it was still on 5he top and right where my second toe joint is. 3 days later, doctor visit, plenty of water and taking 50mg doses of indomethacin (3 doses so far). Severe pain, slight swelling and redness still persist. Any advise will be greatly appreciated!

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
You seem to have arthritis of your toes with redness likely to be gout / rheumatoid arthritis. The diagnosis would be confirmed after blood tests. I would advise to continue with Indocid, it would reduce your pain. Following this you should meet an orthopedic doctor, for confirming type of arthritis followed by specific medication.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
