What Causes Persistent Pain Under Armpit With History Of Thoracic Kyphoscoliosis?

Should I see my doctor? I have pain under my left armpit and above ribs, when it first started a couple of weeks ago I thought I may have pulled something but doesn t seem to be getting any better. I do have back pain and neck pain constantly due to severe thoracic kyphoscoliosis for which I have to take strong painkillers but they are not touching this new pain.It almost feels like I am winded a little on left side. Didn t want to waste doctors precious time if this is down to my spinal problem, Kind Regards.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Is there any swelling or tender points there in the armpit? Any history of wound or insect bite in the left arm in near past?

Recent onset pain in armpit is most commonly caused by a soft tissue infection like boil or an enlarged & inflamed lymph node there from some lesions on the arm. If there is no swelling or point tenderness, just try simple analgesics like ibuprofen 3 time a day for 3-5 days. If not getting down by then, kindly see your doctor for further evaluation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
