What Causes Persistent Painful Bumps On The Upper Arm?

My 5 year old son has had flesh colored raised bump just smaller than tip of pencil eraser on upper arm for apx 1 year. Rn at last physical said she thought it looked like a wart and to just leave it. Over past couple days it has become slightly bigger, gotten much more red, and my son is saying it hurts around it. What do you think this is?

it is abump but slowly growing insize. cellular examination after excision is requered for confirm diagnosis. if it is a begnin growth then it can be removed surgicaly.
