What Causes Persistent Phlegm In Throat Despite Taking Antibiotics?
I am a smoker 1 pack a day. I had a bacterial infection 2 weeks ago I took antibotics for 10 days but I still have a lot of clear phlegm which makes my throat tickle especially in the morning and while I'M lying in bed I can feel it draining down my throat. My doctor said my lungs are clear my question is what can I use to dry up my drainage ?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain as you have got a bacterial throat infection and also as you are continuously smoking Cigarette there is a a delayed healing or delayed resolution of infection.. Other thing that I would like to explain you is that due to smoking there is continuous irritation in throat with smoke and chemicals and due to it there is formation of excessive mucous in throat.. The first thing that I would like to suggest is that it will be better if you stop smoking or atleast limit it to 1 or 2 a day.. You should do warm saline gargles.. Do steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room.. Avoid spicy food and sip on plenty of warm water.. Maintain a good oral hygiene..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
