What Causes Persistent Pressure And Blockage In The Ears?

I had a bad cold with infected sinuses, but that is all gone now, but have I persistent pressure and a clogged feeling in my ear. - It s been this way for over 4 weeks. And I get on an airplane, 2 weeks from now, so I m worried how the flying will effect me. Have seen my doctor who said there is no infection. Have tried steam treatments, valsalva maneouvre, oral decongestant, nasal spray, ear candle, chewing gum, but nothing works to get rid of the clogged feeling.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Sometimes upper respiratory tract infection can lead to eustachian tube edema. So it can be a causative factor.
Usually with decongestant and by steam inhalation condition can be improved.

However, it's advisable to get checked your ear by Otoscopy ear examination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
