What Causes Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension Of The Newborn?

Hi Doctor , I had c-section(36 weeks) and my daughter was admitted in NICU within 3 hrs.she was not able to breathe properly. She didnot cry properly after coming out of womb.I lost my baby who was on ventilator for 12 days with no progress.doctors say the reason was PPHN.Kindly explain me why did this happen.I was having high serum uric acid(4.9) was this the reason or baby not crying led to this stage. Are there any chances of this continuing if I plan for second time.

Hello Welcome to Health Care Magic
Persistent pulmonary hypertension(PPHN) is when the neonate fails to make the transition from fetal circulation to normal newborn circulation.

One of the main challenges facing a neonate making the transition to the extra-uterine environment is that of cardio-pulmonary adaptation.
Don't worry much. Stay calm.It is not such kind of disease that once precipitated should always be present. but if it occurs in second baby is purely by chance. because after birth every child faces the same situation. but most of them fight to it and they survive.
Hope this information helps you.
Best wishes.
