What Causes Persistent Redness And Inflammation On The Tonsils?

Having problems with my tonsils for over a year. Mainly left side, inflamed...red area, irritation. When 1st started it felt as though a growth was starting to develop on left tonsil along with globus feeling...been to 3 different drs, and all said many different ideas what it could be..GERD, sleep apnea, snoring...ent said it doesn’t look as I may have throat cancer...did the scope through my nose to see throat.....been on 4 courses of antibiotics during the past (almost a year)...along with acid reflux pills...still no improvement...had a baby 2 months prior to this..thought I had a chip scratch my throat before this happened...negative for strep and mono...

Hello,

See, all this you are explaining tonsillitis is the criteria fitting for tonsillectomy. If you have 3 to 4 episodes two consecutive years, then its better you get your tonsils removed rather than getting treated with antibiotics.

Recurrent infection can do spread and you can go for sepsis in worst cases. So, any infectious part has to be removed.

If you still feel this time, you can take antibiotics, and then you can try for 2 to 3 episodes, but if it is more, then just get it removed rather than risking complications.
