Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Persistent Severe Lower Back Pain After Injury?
Hello, I have been having an issue which I originally thought was a bruised or broken tailbone. I fell in the middle of May this year and it has been uncomfortable to sit in certain positions since. I feel like it is somewhat better, but after exercising it seems worse. I cannot sit in a position with my legs propped without pain. I also have been having lower back pain on my right side for quite some time, not sure if it is connected. I am 53 years old and female. I haven t found a physician I am comfortable with, so I haven t seen anyone yet. Is there any advice or ideas that you can give me? Thanks, AJ Smith
Your symptoms may suggest coccygodynia(painful tail bone). Your condition need proper clinical examination and X-rays. X-ray of coccyx bone in PA/Lateral view should be taken to confirm fracture. Its treatment is mainly conservative in the form of massage, injection etc. Manipulation/re positioning may be required in few cases.
Avoid sitting on hard surfaces.
I also suggest for x-ray L/S spine(AP/Lateral) view due to right sided backache. MRI may be needed if required. Proper treatment depend upon findings.
Get well soon. Take Care Dr.Indu Bhushan
