What Causes Persistent Sinus Drainage, Headache, Dry Cough And Bodyache?

Started with sinus drainage, then headache and body aches. Began last Tuesday. Thursday, I began taking Daytime OTC medicine for a severe cold or flu with a Tylenol base. Could not shake the headache until Saturday evening. The sinus drainage has subsided significantly. I stopped taking the cold medicine and went to straight Tylenol last night, which alleviated the headache. Today, the body aches continue, plus I developed an occasional, deep cough around Wednesday. It is still with me as well as the fatigue that has been there since Wednesday as well. All this started after visiting an Urgent Care facility with my wife who had developed an infection in her leg after taking a fall a couple weeks ago. While sitting in the waiting area, there were at least 2-3 people coughing with runny noses, among who were two children under the age of 1 who did not cover their mouths when coughing constantly.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of persistent sinus drainage, headache, dry cough and body ache. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen to prevent fever and body-ache , drink plenty of fluids, have proper rest , do warm saline gargles , take analgesic such as Flexon and take light diet. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan along with nasal endoscopy . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics like amoxicillin or penicillin at least for a week along with decongestant and expectorant . Doctor may also recommend surgery to drain the sinus . Taka steam several times a day will be very helpful .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
