What Causes Persistent Sore On The Buttock?

I have had a sore on my butt for a year and a half, it looks like a little zit until I scratch it open then it looks more like small boil. I live in a small town and good doctors are limited. I have been told it could be a staph infection. It appeared right after I had an overnight stay in our local hospital. They treated me with antibiotics for a staph infection and it never went away. The doctor just kept increasing the strength . I don t really think it helped at all though because it keeps coming back. I will feel it start to burn then it itches and I try not to scratch it but I can never not scratch it open. I had an appointment with our local dermatologist but it wasn t open at the time so I canceled the appointment. Tonight it opened up again and I thought I would give Web MD a try. I have seen several different doctors and one asked why they treated me for a staph infection without knowing for sure that it was one and I didn t know what to say. It doesn t seem to be going away and its been a year and a half and it s driving me crazy. If you have any info as to what you might think it is I would greatly appriciate your input and any recommendations??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
It seems that your problem should properly diagnosed and treated accordingly.
As this problem is since long this can be due to chronic fungal infection or some local skin problem like dermatitis.
Once due to itching and irritation infection occurs, doctor will prescribe antibiotic medicine which gives temporarily relief but due to main problem not solved, recurrence is always there.
Consult dermatologist and get clinically examined.
Meanwhile apply triple action cream and take Cetrizine medicine for itching.
Rule out diabetes as well.
Avoid wearing synthetic inner wear.
Ok and take care.
