What Causes Persistent Sore Throat, Hoarse Voice And Thick Phlegm-like Nasal Discharge?
I have a very sore throat, hoarse voice, cough, headache blocked and runny (!!) nose coughing up a thick greenish phlegm, and generally feel crap! This has now been going on for 9 days, Do i need to see a doctor? I originally put it down to flu but now im wondering if i need antibiotics?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of persistent sore throat, hoarse voice and thick phlegm nasal discharge which is because of viral infection and coinfection of upper respiratory tract.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start taking decongestant nasal spray and take hot milk boiled with half a teaspoon of turmeric. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist once and get it examined. Doctor may order blood tests, throat swab test and x-ray chest. Drink lukewarm water on daily basis and avoid intake of cold carbonated beverages. You should take proper rest and avoid spicy and sharp food substances.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
