What Causes Persistent Sore Throat Inspite Of Amoxicillin?

My 16 yr old son is currently being treated with amoxicillin for a sore throat and fever. His girlfriend tested positive for strep. She is feeling better, but he is not. His fever is gone, but his sore throat remains and is worse than before he had the abx. He feels like he has a lump in his throat and feels like he needs to spit all the time. He is tired and also has a ha.

Hello

It is likely that the bacteria causing the throat infection in your son is resistant to amoxicillin and therefore his sore throat is still persisting , I would like you to meet your ent doctor again, so that he can change the antibiotics for him and help him recover faster. I would also like your son to gargle with warm salt water 2-3 times a day.
