What Causes Persistent Swelling In An Ankle?

I have had a swollen left ankle for 5 months or more, the doctor did a ekg that came back negative, and ask me to come back in a month if the swelling isn t gone, due the the hot weather we ve had, today I noticed I have small red speckles on both ankles and feet. They don t itch or hurt. Am concerned, please advise. Stephanie

Hello,

I think you should check also your kidney function doing creatinine clearance and an ultrasound. The swelling in ankles may also be related to rheumatological issues such lupic nephritis.
