What Causes Persistent Swelling In The Hand?

Woke up this morning. My left hand was really swollen. Thought it was from wearing a Carole tunnel wrist brace overnight and too tight. After 4 hours, no change. Tried ice. No change. Tried 50mg of benadryl at 9:00 p.m. Hand is still just as swollen and wrist appears swollen too. Should it just watch it overnight?

Hello,

Thanks for writing to Health Care magic, I am Dr , Muhammad Ahmad , I have read your question closely, I understand your concern and will be helping you with your health related problem.

sometimes swelling takes time to go, icing might have stopped it to swell up further but already present swelling does take time to go, I would suggest you not to panic if you can feel pulse at your effected writst, you dont have pin in hand , its not cold and blue thne you can wait and watch, in my opinion it will get better in a couple of days you do not have to panic or rush to the doctor but if it doesn't get better in 2 days then you are advised to have a checkup with your doctor.

I hope this answered your question, If you have more queries I am happy to answer you.
Regards.

Dr.Muhammad Ahmad
