Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Persistent Swollen Tragus In Both Ears In Spite Of Taking Medications?
My husband has swelling of the targus on both ears. He has seen 3 different ENT docs but none of them have been able to find a cure. They have treated him with a topical cream, steroids, antibiotics and they seem to work while he is taking them but when the dose is gone the swelling comes back. What could this be?
1. As he has already took consultation / examination with ENT doctor and still source of infection is not identified, so check with a Dermatologist (for a second opinion) to exclude any allergic reaction/contact dermatitis.
2. If swelling is associated with Pus, one can go for the culture of the same to know about the microorganism and antibiotic sensitivity.
3. check with his blood sugar level and other blood parameters, it could be recurrent periauricular lymphadenitis, so one can take another meticulous examination from an ENT doctor to confirm if there is any sinus tract that might be causing the same.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
